Design Example:
The goal for this project was to provide a precise but low cost X-Y motion platform with very limited travel. Based on the system specifications, we selected a flexure concept with integrated X-Y motion. The platform was to be placed at a slope of 30° or greater and the payload center of gravity was offset from the flexure surface. To ensure the desired performance under this combination of vertical and moment loads, finite element analysis was conducted on the flexure model. Because of our experience with flexure designs a prototype was developed which successfully met the customer's performance, cost and schedule requirements.
